Dune Ecology at Dune Harbor Park

August 23 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Free
Dune Harbor Park Ecology

Join us for a beach day at Dune Harbor Park!
Follow Spencer High from Querkus Creative for an Introduction to Dune Ecology at Muskegon County’s Dune Harbor Park.

Explore the incredible variety of life found along the shores of Lake Michigan—both on the sand and in the water—and discover why these species call the coast home.

We’ll let our curiosity guide us as we search for plants, animals, and aquatic creatures, while learning what makes the Lake Michigan shoreline so unique—even on a global scale.

No beach day is complete without a splash in the lake! Feel free to bring a swimsuit, snorkel, and goggles to help spot aquatic life in the shallows.

Nets, observation containers, and survey tools will be provided so we can take a closer look at the amazing species we find.

We’ll meet at the Lincoln Lot and follow the North Lake Trail to the Dune Harbor Beach Access Point (about a 20-minute walk). Don’t forget to bring water and sun protection!
