About Meinert Park

Tucked away at the north end of the county, Meinert Park offers a quiet retreat for the outdoor enthusiast. Meinert Park features a campground with full hookups located a short walk(approx. 2,000ft) to the Lake Michigan beach. Sitting on 182 acres of forested dunes, the park provides scenic overlooks with spectacular views of Little Flower Creek and the Lake Michigan shoreline. Adventurous visitors may hike to the top of the parabolic dune for a breathtaking panoramic view of lake Michigan and the surrounding countryside. 

Meinert Park also has a modern rental cottage with 3 bedrooms, kitchen and full bathroom that can accommodate up to 6 people.

Meinert Park Picnic Shelter is located in the day use area next to a large play ground. The shelter has picnic tables with seating for approximately forty people, electrical outlets and a grill.  It is a short walk to the Lake Michigan beach restrooms and Lake Michigan beach day use are. 

Directions to Meinert Park

Meinert County Park is located on Lake Michigan north of Montague at the end of Meinert Road. Take U.S. 31 to the Fruitvale Road Exit, go right (west) on Fruitvale Road to Old 31, turn right (north) and follow Old 31 one (1) mile to Meinert Road, turn left (west). The park entrance is approximately 5 miles at Lake Michigan.

Fees at Meinert Park

Motor Vehicle Entry Permit:
A Muskegon County Motor Vehicle Entry Permit or “Park Pass”, is required for all vehicles entering Meinert County Park. The permit may be purchased at the campground office or the booth as you enter the day use area.

Daily: $ 5.00
Annual: $20.00

Overnight Campsite: 

Per day: $45.00 full hook up.

Picnic Shelter: $75

  • Opens on the first Friday in May and closes on the last Sunday in September

Meinert Park Picnic Shelter

The Meinert Park Picnic shelter is an ideal setting for family gatherings, graduation parties and other group picnic events. The shelter is located in the day use area next to the playground and cradled within the woods of the forested sand dunes. The shelter has picnic tables with seating for approximately forty (40) people, electrical outlets and a large grill for cooking. It is a short walk to the Lake Michigan beach restrooms and the Lake Michigan beach day use area.

Please note that every vehicle entering the park must have a park pass.

Park Passes are $5.00 per day or $20.00 for the season.

Alcohol is not allowed in any Muskegon County Park.

Meinert Park Cottage

Cottage Amenities:

  • 3 Bedrooms- One queen size bed, and two rooms both with, Twin size top/Full size bottom bunkbeds.

No Pets Allowed. 

Drugs and Alcohol are not allowed in any Muskegon County Park.

Rental Hours:
The cottage may be rented by the day with a two (2) day minimum before Memorial Day and After Labor Day. 

Or

By the week (7 days maximum) After Memorial day and before Labor Day. Check out time is at 11:00 a.m. Sunday and check in time is after 5:00 p.m. Sunday.

Rental Rates:
Memorial Weekend to Labor Day
Per week: $1,000.00

Before Memorial Weekend and After Labor Day
Per day: $150.00 (Two day minimum)

Lodge/Shelter/Rental Cabins

Cancellations can be made online on the reservation website. Cancellations made up to close of business 7 days prior to your scheduled arrival date will incur the $10 cancellation fee. If you cancel 6 days or less prior to the arrival date, you will forfeit the first night’s fee or $75, whichever is the lesser amount. There is a $10 fee assessed for all changes made to your reservation, except for adding nights to the reservation.

Muskegon County Parks accepts cash and checks on-site. Credit cards can be used for online campsite reservations and on-site at Pioneer Park, Meinert Park, Twin Lake Park, and Blue Lake Park. We accept Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. NO REFUNDS FOR CAMPING OR VEHICLE PERMIT FEES.
