Located just North of Montague, Meinert Park is a peaceful retreat for outdoor enthusiasts. With 182 acres of forested dunes, the park offers spectacular views of Little Flower Creek and the Lake Michigan shoreline. Visitors can enjoy the sugar sand shores of the large Lake Michigan beach or hike to the top of the parabolic dune for a breathtaking panoramic view of the lake and countryside.
The park features a 67-site modern campground with full hookups, including water, electric, and sewer. Campers can choose from open and shaded sites, all within walking distance of the beach. (approximately 2,000ft)
Looking to get away outdoors without a tent? Meinert Park also offers a cozy rental cottage with three bedrooms, a full kitchen, and a bathroom, accommodating up to six guests.
The Meinert Park Picnic Shelter, located near the playground, provides picnic tables for about 40 people, electrical outlets, and a grill. It’s just a short walk from the Lake Michigan beach and restrooms, making it a great spot for gatherings.

A Muskegon County Motor Vehicle Entry Permit or “Park Pass” is required for all vehicles entering Meinert County Park from May 1st – September 30th.
Day Pass: $7

Park Accessibility
Meinert Park Campground Restrooms are ADA-compliant and the campground has several paved sites. We are seeking funds to enhance accessibility at Meinert Park and have several improvement projects that we would like to see happen including replacing the current beach restrooms with ADA-compliant restrooms, ADA campsite upgrades, improving beach parking, and adding ADA play equipment.
Dog Rules
While on County Park Property:
- Dogs must be under the immediate control of a competent person by means of a leash not exceeding six feet in length.
- Dogs must be supervised and kept quiet at all times.
- Animal feces must be picked up and properly deposited in dumpsters.
- Animals are not permitted in park buildings unless it is a service dog for individuals with disabilities.
- Meinert County Park does allow leashed dogs on the Lake Michigan beach on the north end of the beach only in the designated dog area.
- Animals who are known to be vicious or dangerous to other park visitors and animals are also not allowed.

The Meinert Park campground features 67 modern campsites with full hookups, including water, electric (20, 30, and limited 50 amp), and sewer. Campers can choose from open or shaded sites, all within walking distance of approximately 2,000 feet of sandy Lake Michigan beachfront. The campground offers flush toilets, showers, and a sanitary dumping station for convenience. Guests can purchase firewood and ice on-site, and the park provides ranger service and security. Visitors can also enjoy the overlook decks for stunning views of the dunes and shoreline.
Local area attractions include: Flower Creek Dunes Nature Preserve, Montague Farmers Market, Montague City Museum, Old Channel Trail Golf Course, Dave’s Fishing Charters, and Duck Lake State Park.

The Meinert Park Picnic shelter is an ideal setting for family gatherings, graduation parties and other group picnic events. The shelter is located in the day use area next to the playground and cradled within the woods of the forested sand dunes. The shelter has picnic tables with seating for approximately forty (40) people, electrical outlets and a large grill for cooking. It is a short walk to the Lake Michigan beach restrooms and the Lake Michigan beach day use area. Alcohol is not allowed in any Muskegon County Park

For a cozy getaway, Meinert Park offers a rental cottage that accommodates up to six guests. The cottage features three bedrooms—one with a queen-size bed and two with twin-over-full bunk beds—along with a furnished living room, kitchen and dining area, range and refrigerator, and a full bathroom. Cooking, drinking, and eating utensils are provided, but guests must bring their own bedding, towels, cleaning supplies, soaps, and personal items. Pets, drugs, and alcohol are not permitted in any Muskegon County Park.
