Our most popular park, Pioneer Park is nestled along forested sand dunes and offers camping, swimming, sunbathing, picnicking, tennis, softball, basketball and volleyball, a rental cabin and lodge. Located on Lake Michigan, the park boasts over 2,000 feet of beach frontage. The Pioneer Park Picnic Lodge is a ideal setting for family reunions, weddings, graduation parties and other large group gatherings. The Lodge was built with timber harvested from the park by the Works Progress Administration around 1936. The Lodge showcases fine examples of the wood and stone craftsmanship from that era, hand carved picnic tables can seat up to approximately 150 guests. The Lodge has a small indoor kitchen with stove/oven for cooking, two refrigerators, prep counter and electrical outlets. There is no sink, but a water spigot is located on the back of the building. A restroom building is located next to the Lodge, but is not ADA accessible. Lake Michigan Beach is within walking distance of the lodge.
