About Pioneer Park

Our most popular park, Pioneer Park resides on 145 acres and offers camping, swimming, sunbathing, picnicking, tennis, softball, basketball and volleyball. Located on Lake Michigan, the park boasts over 2,000 feet of beach frontage. Close to park is Michigan’s Adventure amusement park, Silversides WWII submarine, museums, theaters, summer festivals, and much more.

Directions to Pioneer Park

Pioneer Park is located on Lake Michigan on Scenic Drive, north of Muskegon. Take US 31 to the Fremont/Big Rapids (M120) Exit, go south west on M120 to Giles Road, turn right (west) on Giles and follow approximately 6 miles to the end of the road. Turn right (north) on Scenic Drive, the park entrance is one quarter of a mile on the left.

Pioneer Park Picnic Lodge

A picnic lodge building is available to rent for family reunions, company and church picnics, or other group activities where shelter is desired. The picnic lodge offers a large stove/oven for cooking, a refrigerator for keeping your food cold, and electrical outlets for crock-pots, coffee pots, etc.

Lodge/Shelter/Rental Cabins

Cancellations can be made via the call center at 231-744-3580. Cancellations made up to close of business 7 days prior to your scheduled arrival date will incur the $10 cancellation fee. If you cancel 6 days or less prior to the arrival date, you will forfeit the first night’s fee or $75, whichever is the lesser amount. There is a $10 fee assessed for all changes made to your reservation, except for adding nights to the reservation.

Muskegon County Parks accepts cash and checks on-site. Credit cards can be used for online campsite reservations and on-site at Pioneer Park, Meinert Park, Twin Lake Park, and Blue Lake Park.
